Valerio Sommella

Valerio Sommella, an Industrial designer born in Tuscany in 1980, is a highly accomplished professional in his field. Graduating with honors from the Politecnico of Milan in 2004, he kickstarted his design career by working alongside Stefano Giovannoni. Seeking further growth and experience, he joined Marcel Wanders’ team in Amsterdam before returning to Italy in 2009 to establish his own design studio, Valerio Sommella Design Studio, in Milan.

Throughout his career, Valerio has collaborated with numerous companies, specializing in the creation of everyday objects, furniture, lighting, and accessories. His versatility is evident as he effortlessly transitions between small-scale productions and mass-market projects. Valerio approaches each endeavor as an opportunity to challenge his own design philosophy, engaging in a constant dialogue between context, users, materials, technologies, and beauty.
