Ruben de Haas

Ruben de Haas, born in 1988, is a vibrant artist and designer hailing from Amsterdam. His passion for colors is evident in both his work and his life. He is constantly exploring the potential of various materials and techniques, all while maintaining a playful and intuitive approach. Having lived and worked in countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Bali, Cambodia, Mexico, Spain, and The Netherlands, Ruben has gained a diverse perspective and a thirst for new experiences.

Coming from a family with a background in art, Ruben was encouraged to create from a young age. As a teenager, he excelled as a circus performer and even hosted his own radio show at the age of 17. After completing high school, he embarked on a journey to explore the world, joining creative studios, filming for a documentary with Evermore, opening a gallery, working as a creative designer, and publishing a book. In 2020, he made the decision to fully dedicate himself to his art.

Ruben's first project, 'How Much Ink Does A Marker Contain?', marked the beginning of his solo career as an artist. While his signature style revolves around mono-colored artworks, his practice continues to evolve and expand. Through his work, Ruben aims to convey the message that it is possible to grow older without losing touch with the things we love, and to do more of what brings us joy.

With his art gaining recognition, Ruben has made a significant impact on the global art scene. His pieces have been acquired by collectors in New York, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Australia, and The Netherlands. In 2022, he was nominated for the prestigious 'Koninklijke Prijs voor de Vrije Schilderkunst' (Royal Dutch Art Prize), bringing him one step closer to his ultimate goal of having a show at MoMa in New York City by 2030.
